Theft Awareness Program:
Who is the program for?
Anyone convicted of stealing and sentenced by the Court or Probation Department to attend the Theft Awareness Program as a condition of his/her probation.

What is the program about?
Educating the offender to understand and be aware that there is a pattern of thinking that precedes and goes on during the act of stealing. Theft Awareness focuses on the development of an “internal control system” so that the individual is aware what is going on and makes steps to change future outcomes.

How is a successful outcome achieved?
We help the offender by correcting his or her thinking errors, by cognitive restructuring, cognitive behavior modification and the use of Reality and Dissonance Therapy.

Length and format of the program?
The length of the program is four hours and done in a group therapy environment, usually on a weekend every other month. Each participant will share his or her experience and then be guided through cognitive restructuring.
